Lots of Rain!!

Well, after a good day yesterday of getting field work done, its raining again today. Now dont get me wrong, as the song says " rain is a good thing", but too much can be just as bad. and right now we are getting too much. We have corn to plant yet, hay to make, and everything is a muddy mess. Last year at this time we were getting dry, and it really never rained all summer and were in a bad drought. One extreme to the next it seems.

Yesterday it did dry out enough to plant some corn, cut and chop some hay, haul manure, and seed some new hay. Evey person and tractor on our farm was doing something it seemed. I was running the chopper, and my dad was just trying to keep track of everybody I think. I chopped until 2 A.M., we had more to go, but everybody was super tired and we just had to quit. As I write it is still raining, and sounds like it will continue through tomorrow too.

Although we would like too, thankfully we cant do anything about the weather, we can only deal with it as best we can.

Well, its been a year, so maybe I should get at this blogging thing again, lol. Things on the farm have been going good, busy but good. We are finally getting rain after the drought last year. However, we are getting to much now, and cant get our corn planted or get hay made. Hopefully we catch a break in the weather and can get our field work done. The cattle have been doing good, and we are adding some cows as our heifers calve in. So, hoping to spare a little time and try and do a few blogs once in a while!
